Its Been 2 Months! Can I Quit My Job Now
Its Been 2 Months! Can I Quit My Job Now The email went like this: Its my first professional job after getting my Masters. (nice work) I HATE it. My boss treats me like a secretary and Im supposed to be the compliance manager. Can I quit now? My answer: HELL NO, honey. Its your FIRST JOB! Its not supposed to be easy. It actually sucks for most people in the beginning but ends up being the most rewarding and here is why: You are building the foundation for comparison for all future jobs. You just dont realize it yet! You learn from your bosses style and decide how you would treat a team differently if you were in charge. You figure out how much coaching you need in this brand new job and ASK FOR IT! You decide if you like this company culture and what you would change or keep the same. You build your first network by connecting with others around you. Introduce yourself. The experience you are receiving in your first job is extremely valuable even though you may feel like its tough. Make goals. Tell yourself you will re-assess in 3 months from now and zero complaining until that date. You will give it your all for the next 3 months and then if you are seeing the light, put another 3 months on the calendar. Regarding your boss, communication is key! Set the expectation with him or her. They are not mind readers. TELL YOUR BOSS WHAT YOU WANT AND NEED IN ORDER TO BE A SUCCESSFUL COMPLIANCE MANAGER. It should be their #1 priority to keep you happy. I have a blog called Fresh On The Job you may like: http://www.freshonthejob.com/#!/ Hang in there, make changes, and see it through!

Build a Profitable Business Assessment (Podcast #72) - Classy Career Girl
Build a Profitable Business Assessment (Podcast #72) Welcome to our very first episode of 2017. I am excited for some fun and exciting things for our podcast in 2017 including a rebrand and re-launch coming soon! We are so thankful for all of you who take the time to listen to our weekly podcasts and I want to say thank you to each and every one of you. In 2016 we published over 32 podcast episodes and reach 86,000 downloads of our podcast which is so much more than we could have hoped for. So we really do hope that this podcast encourages and inspires you. If you are enjoying our podcast of course as always we would love a review on iTunes as well. So lets get into todays episode. Today we are featuring a QA training I did during our Freedom Workshop which is a free training series to help you start and grow your business in 2017 and make more of an impact in the world. If you want more freedom and less stress, I would highly recommend getting this entire workshop. Its completely free and you can sign up at www.corporaterescueplan.com/freedom. In the workshop, you can get this entire Profitable Business Assessment in a PDF Workbook. Build a Profitable Business Assessment The purpose of the profitable business assessment is all about self-reflection and market research. What weâre trying to do in this part of the assessment is get a sense for your passion, desire to solve a problem or master a subject, and your marketâs willingness to spend money on the subject. Problem Donât make this about you. Itâs not about providing a product you think YOU think your market needs. It might help you to think about services you pay for right now that solve your problems that you couldnt live without. 1. Will people pay for you to solve their problem? 2. Have you tested your idea on your ideal market? 3. Have you analyzed the strengths and weaknesses of your competition? 4. Have you sold a âbetaâ version of your product or service yet? 5. Have you researched the pricing and offerings of your competitors to see what could be done better? Remember, itâs not about what you want. Itâs what your clients and customers want and need. This doesnât take that long, in Corporate Rescue Plan we will discuss how to research your competitors and how to launch a beta version of your product or service and get up and running fast. Payment In order to start and grow a business, you have to be crystal clear how your business will make money and that your clients will pay for it. This is as simple as testing it. And you donât need a ton of money or time to get started. I have several clients who have launched their businesses and websites with very little investment while still working their day jobs. People You want to know who your ideal client is. You want to know his or her needs and frustrations, goals and desires. I want you to visualize your ideal client. Name this person and write a whole paragraph about him or her and make them real. If you have already had clients in your business, this might be a real person that you visualize before you write an email or blog post. 1. Is there a large market for your product or service? 2. Do you know your ideal client avatar? 3. Are you in forums and communities with your ideal client? 4. Do you have a community to support you to build your business? 5. Do you have a list of current and future hiring needs? [RELATED: 4 Things You Need To Do To Attract More Clients] Often times, this means starting with one market and spending a lot of time in the community really learning as much as you can about that market and how you can help them. Facebook groups are an excellent place to do this! I ask questions and poll my ideal clients in my own and other Facebook groups on a daily basis to really learn as much as I can about my target market. This is an ongoing process that I do on a daily basis and this serves as the basis for new products, services or blog articles that I create. The other good news is that once you have this client avatar and you know what your ideal clientâs frustrations and desires are, selling wonât even feel like selling. Passion Your story and passion will add to your brand no matter what you are selling, whether itâs a product or service. Your clients want to know, like and trust you and your company. Thatâs who they are buying from. So if they can see your passion shine through in what you are selling. 1. Are you passionate about your business idea? 2. Do you know why you want to start and grow a business? 3. Are you excited about the future vision of your business? 4. Will your business idea help you get closer to you living your ideal workday? 5. Do you know your strengths and interests? Do you know what you do best? This doesnât take that long. In fact, in Corporate Rescue Plan we will discuss how to design the right business for you and how to create the purpose and mission statement for your business so it is directly in line with your goals, dreams and strengths. There are a lot of unhappy business owners out there running businesses that donât fit them. I donât want you to be one of them. Conclusion: Remember, the Profitable Business Assessment is just a tool. If your score is low, it doesnât necessarily mean youâll never be able to launch a profitable business. It may just mean that youâll need to use a different strategy to get going. Likewise, if you got a good score, it doesnât necessarily mean youâll succeed. But the odds of success are definitely in your favor. Now that youâre clear about whether your business will be profitable the BIG question is, how do you GROW, how do you create a structured plan to design, build and scale a business and what numbers should you pay attention to in order to know if you business will succeed. How do you attract clients and have them stay? Hands down, this is the most important key to anyoneâs growth as an entrepreneur. If you canât get organized, develop a plan and achieve your goal of getting your business off the ground, then youâll continue to experience the overwhelm and frustration of running your business with no direction and not enough sales or clients. Corporate Rescue Plan is opening again on June 19thth. We hope youll join our e-learning platform and membership community so that you can grow your own profitable business in 2017!

Some Things Are Changing Around Here....
Some Things Are Changing Around Here.... If you read my post about my 2013 year in review and looking forward to 2014, you learned that my new mantra from 2014 is What can I say no to? Saying no is extremely hard for me and I wind up with way too many things on my plate. I learned this the hard way in 2013 and am determined to make 2014 the year to simplify and focus. Part of this is simplifying my business and focusing on the type of work that I really want to do. What made me start thinking about saying no is when I heard Bob Goff, author of Love Does: Discover a Secretly Incredible Life in an Ordinary World, say that he quits something every Thursday. At first, it seemed crazy, but then I made a list of all of the things that I wanted to quit and said why not? But, dont get me wrong. I am not a quitter! I am only quitting things that are in the way of the big goals and dreams that I have this year. I am quitting the things that are holding me back. I am quitting the things that have caused many other bloggers and new business owners to just flat out quit their entire businesses. I have to quit some things so I can focus on doing my best work and making it even better. Whats Changing: 1) One of the things that I will say no to in 2014 is job search coaching. This was a really hard decision. For the past three years I have offered job search, resume, and interview preparation coaching to my clients. I have loved every second of the work I have done but with my book coming out, I have realized that my passions and focus are changing. My new 2014 individual coaching spots will now only be for mid to high-level leaders looking for leadership development, time management, communication and stress management techniques to upgrade their leadership and accelerate their career success. BUT DONâT WORRY if you are a job searcher!! There is tons of great information right here on the blog for job searchers. Here are a few of my favorites: Writing a Resume The Complete Guide 10 Best Resume Templates How to Efficiently Search for a Job Online 2) If you have read my blog for awhile you know that there isnt a Monday that goes by that doesnt have my Monday Motivation career links. I get a lot of great feedback on them (and a BIG THANKS to my assistant, Lor, who helps me find awesome links!) but I just have this feeling like its time to change. Out with the old, in with the new. I need to create space so that other blog posts and articles can be written. I am ALWAYS posting links to great articles on Twitter and Facebook so make sure you follow me there to get the latest motivation everyday. 3) There will also be changes to the Get Ahead Club in 2014 that I cant announce yet. But that doesnt mean you shouldnt join us for some fabulous interviews with some of my all-time favorite career authors in January and February. UmmGail Evans and Dr. Lois Frankel! Someone pinch me! 4) I have a really big personal thing happening this year, but I cant share yet! I know the suspense is killing yousorry! ?? Whats Not Changing: 1) My weekly career report delivered to your inbox with free content and tips not on the blog. The content of the newsletters this year will be focused on how to become an effective female leader. If you arent a leader yet, I highly encourage you to sign up and read the articles. The best way to become a great leader is to start acting one like now. I believe that you can start leading at any level you are at. I have led a lot of my bosses and clients in the past even though there were much higher than me on the totem pole. Make sure you sign up for my FREE leadership course and my weekly career report here. 2) Blog posts throughout the week. I am not sure how many days yet.it may not be every weekday like it has in the past. What matters to me this year is quality over quantity. 3) Blog posts from yours truly! Yay! Since I made the commitment to start saying no, I stopped teaching as a Professor this year. This clears up more room in my schedule for writing in 2014 which I am really excited about! Your Homework: This is new too! At the end of each post, I am going to give you homework this year. So todays homework is to make a list of all of the items that you want to say no to. Then, try to eliminate them from your schedule by delegating them or just letting them go if they arent necessary anymore. When I did this, I realized that there were a lot of things I thought I HAD to do but I really didnt have to. Another way you can do this is to make a long list of everything you hate doing during your day. Then figure out how you can take them off your plate. This way you can clear time for the things in your life that you really enjoy doing AND that you are good at! This is the secret to your success in 2014. What can you eliminate? Whats on your no list?
